JBU strives to promote positive relationships between children and staff.  We encourage each child to develop a sense of individual worth and belonging as part of a community.  Further, we hope to foster warm, sensitive, and responsive relationships, where children feel secure and feel like the JBU facility is a home-away-from-home.

JBU's goal for what you as a parent/guardian should receive from us:

  • Children and adults feel welcomed when they visit the program.

  • JBU Staff help new children adjust and make friends.

  • JBU staff engage positively with the children and encourage and facilitate homework and play

  • Children are encouraged to play and get along

  • JBU Staff carefully supervises all children

  • Children are provided the time for school and play activities, while JBU facilities spaces for these opportunities

  • JBU Staff have training in pediatric first aid

  • JBU maintains a clean and safe environment, and ensures regular hand-washing and sanitizing routines throughout the facility

  • Snacks and meals are nutritious, and food is prepared and stored safely

  • Program information is readily available, and easy to understand

  • JBU will only hire staff that are actively engaged with your children, while holding the educational qualifications, knowledge, and professional commitment necessary to promote your child's feelings of JBU being a home-away-from-home

  • JBU will seek to forge relationships with community programs to have extra-curricular activities to meet the needs and interests of children and families
